After years of being in the Car industry it does not surprise how little people know about their cars.
There’s the obvious, from where the dipstick is to how to change a tyre? But there are also some obscure things that are missing from most peoples knowledge banks in regards to cars.
Have you ever driven a friend’s car, rental or your brand new car and not known what side the tank is on?
Yes it’s happened to us all (even in our own cars to be fair) and even though it most stations you can probably reach the other side. It doesn’t half look awkward trying to fill up on the other side of the pump to the fuel cap.
Now this is a trick taught to me a number of years ago and holds up on every car I’ve ever driven.
You don’t need to even leave the car to find out what side the petrol tank is on.
Most new cars actually tell you what side the petrol tank is on, yes right in front or your face.
Just look at the dashboard fuel gauge and you’ll see a picture of a gas pump with an arrow. Whichever way that arrow points, that’s the side of the car with the filler cap. So if you ever borrow, rent or even steal (joke) a car that your not used. This is the easiest way to tell what side the fuel cap is on.
Of course some of you will say “my car doesn’t have the arrow icon”
Well first of all we would say CHANGE YOUR CAR……BECAUSE ITS TO OLDDDDD!!!!. However if that’s not an option some cars also use the hose on the image as an indicator. However please note this is not an exact science.
